WHAT: The Truckee Donner PUD (TDPUD), Town of Truckee and Pioneer Commerce Center will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies to celebrate the launch of two new Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) public access charging stations in Truckee.
One station is located at the Truckee Depot site in historic downtown Truckee and there is a second station at the Pioneer Commerce Center located just north of Interstate 80 – each of the two locations will have two, Level 2 charging stations.
To promote the new charging station locations, TDPUD will be offering free charging for the first month of operation
WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 19. Time: 3:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Commerce Center and 3:30 p.m. at the Truckee Depot.
Pioneer Commerce Center: located north of Interstate 80, 11025 Pioneer Trail, Truckee, Calif.
Truckee Depot: located in the heart of Truckee’s historic downtown, 10065 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, Calif.
WHY: The greater Truckee area has seen a dramatic increase in PEVs over the last few years driven by Truckee’s unique position as a major stop on the Interstate 80 corridor, an iconic destination for the area’s many visitors, and as a gateway to Lake Tahoe and the Northern Sierra. In addition, the California Energy Commission has recently made a significant investment in the region with a $200,000 grant to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to produce a Tahoe-Truckee PEV Readiness Plan.
