Truckee Donner PUD Conservation Programs Help Businesses
New technologies improve performance, save energy, and save money!
Truckee, Calif. (November 17, 2014) – The Truckee Donner Public Utility District has a suite of conservation programs available to qualifying business or commercial customers. These programs help save energy and water and minimize related operating expenses. Many programs are free or off-set the costs of a project resulting in a very attractive return on investment. These new technologies can also improve a business’s performance and image.
“Energy efficiency and new lighting technologies are a great way for a company to gain a competitive advantage in the market.” said Trisha Ruby, Truckee Donner PUD conservation program administrator, “In the past 5 years our business lighting and commercial refrigeration programs have saved local businesses well over a million dollars.”
The TDPUD Commercial Refrigeration program provides direct-installation of energy efficient commercial-grade refrigeration equipment at convenience and grocery stores, restaurants and other Truckee-area businesses. Over 55 Truckee businesses have participated in the program over the past 5 years. In 2013 businesses saved 132,000 kWh or approximately $21,000.
The TDPUD commercial lighting programs are even more cost-effective. In 2013, 59 businesses participated in the TDPUD Business Green Partners program – which offers free plug-in/screw-in CFL’s and LED’s - saving businesses on average over $500 per year on their electric bill. A state-of-the art LED lighting project at Carmel Gallery in Truckee has reduced energy usage by approximately 50%.
“The Truckee Donner PUD staff who deliver the energy efficiency programs are very supportive in finding solutions that greatly reduce your monthly electric bill.” said Olof Carmel, The Carmel Gallery owner/artist, “I was able to try numerous LED light bulbs before finding the one that really lit up the gallery.”
Opportunities available today to qualifying TDPUD business or commercial customers include:
Commercial Lighting Rebate Program: Pays up to 1/3 of project cost to upgrade to high-efficiency lighting;
Business Green Partners Program: Provides FREE energy and water saving measures including screw-in LED and CFL light bulbs and other energy and water saving measures; and
Commercial Refrigeration Program: Provides FREE energy-efficient refrigeration controls, motors, case lighting, and infiltration barriers after a comprehensive refrigeration energy audit and proposal from Truckee Donner PUD’s installation contractor.
