GIS is a technological field that incorporates graphical features with tabular data in order to assess real-world problems. As an integrated system of computer hardware, software, and trained personnel, GIS allows for complex analysis and modeling not previously possible, of real-world problems and issues. Here at the District, GIS has allowed for the implementation of sophisticated modeling procedures to aid in:
- Utility Design
- Outage Response
- Automated Meter Reading
- Underground Service Location
- Asset Management
Visit the Articles and Awards sections to understand more in depth how Truckee Donner PUD is using GIS to improve our service to our customers and our community in general.
Data Sharing Program
Truckee Donner PUD has compiled an extensive amount of geographic data in and around the Truckee region which is of both high accuracy and precision. This data is proprietary, however to ensure our rate payers are not burdened with the costs of reproducing this same data multiple times at other agencies; government and regional agencies may obtain parts or all of this data by agreeing to our “Data Exchange License Agreement”.
