TDPUD Alert:  COVID-19 Response and Actions

Utility taking steps to ensure reliable and safe electric and water service.

Truckee, Calif. (March 18, 2020) –Truckee Donner Public Utility District (TDPUD) is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our customers and community. We are also committed to protecting the health of our employees so that TDPUD can work to ensure you have safe, reliable electric and water service.  All essential services are still being provided, though customers are required to conduct business with TDPUD online, by phone, or via mail.  Based on current recommendations from health officials and a review of critical operations, TDPUD has taken the following actions:

  • The administrative office at 11570 Donner Pass Road is closed to the public.TDPUD’s dedicated and knowledgeable Customer Service Team is available to assist you by phone at (530) 587-3896, by emailing service@tdpud.org, or by mail at 11570 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161.
  • Payments can be made online tdpud.org, by phone at (888) 480-9712, or at our dropbox just outside our front entrance doors at 11570 Donner Pass Road.Many forms and transactions can be completed via the TDPUD website.
  • Consistent with the governor’s executive orders, the TDPUD board of directors will be practicing best management practices for public meetings, participating in remote locations within TDPUD boundaries, and ensuring Brown Act compliance. The public can participate in board meetings electronically by visiting tdpud.org.Public comments can be made via e-mail up to the closing of the public comment period for an item by e-mailing shannakuhlemier@tdpud.org.
  • To protect our employees, customers, and community, TDPUD is suspending non-critical work, enabling work from home when possible, and modifying operations to maximize social distancing and proper hygiene.Employees are being asked to stay home if they are sick, are caring for a sick or at-risk family member, or believe that they have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • We also want to make sure that you know that TDPUD drinking water is safe from Coronavirus (COVID-19).According to the Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. The normally utilized treatments already in place with the TDPUD drinking water distributions systems maintain a safe barrier from viruses, including COVID-19.For additional information on water quality visit https://www.tdpud.org/departments/water/water-quality.
