Truckee Donner PUD Improves Free Toilet Exchange Program

Western Nevada Supply Wins Contract Again to Deliver Program

TRUCKEE, Calif. (July 31, 2014) – The Truckee Donner Public Utility District and Western Nevada Supply are again partnering to offer customers a free water-efficient toilet in exchange for an old toilet.  But now, instead of free 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) toilets, qualifying Truckee Donner PUD customers get free high-efficiency 1.28 gpf toilets.

TDPUD customers are invited to exchange their old water-guzzling toilets (3+ gpf) at the Western Nevada Supply store in Truckee for free water-efficient new toilets through this program. In lieu of the free exchange for standard models, customers may instead opt to apply for a $100 credit towards any Western Nevada Supply toilet that uses 1.28 gpf or less.

To qualify for the program, you must be a current Truckee Donner PUD water customer and your old toilets must be greater than 3 gallons per flush.  Customers are eligible to exchange up to three toilets per account and must visit the Truckee Donner PUD’s conservation department at 11570 Donner Pass Road to receive a pre-qualification form to take to Western Nevada Supply along with the old toilets.

“Conserving water is even more important during the on-going drought,” said Steven Poncelet TDPUD public information and conservation manager. “This free program helps our qualifying customers save water, money, and live more comfortably.”

Older toilets typically use between 3-7 gallons of water per flush. New, water-saving toilets only use 1.28 gallons of water per flush, or less. Toilets are one of the biggest water users inside a home or business so replacing your older, inefficient toilets can be a wise investment.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Truckee Donner PUD and working with their customers and our local plumbers; they really like this program,” said Ted Reviglio, of Western Nevada Supply, which has been serving the Truckee area since 1964.

The toilet exchange is available Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Western Nevada Supply located at 10990 Industrial Way #1, Truckee. Call 530.582.5009 for customer service or visit
